Adding Web Jabber/XMPP and Improving Web Gtalk

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
webuzz-jabber

We are very pleased to announce that WeBuzz.IM supports web Jabber/web XMPP ( http://webuzz.im/jabber/ ) from now on. And WeBuzz.IM’s web Gtalk is improved to support Google Apps users.

Jabber/XMPP is an open and widely used IM protocol. The well know Google Talk is using Jabber/XMPP. And there are lots of jabber servers besides Gtalk and jabber.org server . You can google “jabber server list” for more jabber servers. It seems that lots of server provide Gtalk/MSN/AIM/Yahoo! Messenger/ICQ/QQ gateway for its users. To learn more about Jabber/XMPP, please visit http://jabber.org/ and http://xmpp.org/ .

To login your jabber, you should login Jabber with full email address. The string “<user name>@<jabber server name>” will tell WeBuzz.IM that you want to login jabber server with your user name.

webuzz-jabber-login

We also improve our web Gtalk service to support Google Apps users. You can login Googl Talk with extra “@<your domain>” in the username field to tell WeBuzz.IM that you are using different email rather than those “@gmail.com”.

Dog-Fooding Ourselves on WeBuzz.IM

Monday, May 18th, 2009

We are eating our own dog food everyday, using WeBuzz.IM in our daily network life. And we find some bugs, we love some features and want to add some more .

Avatar (or profile picture) is the main feature of Windows Live Messenger (MSN). As it is known, in Microsoft’s official messenger, we have to click on everyone’s icon to view the latest picture. It’s very inconvenient for us to catch up with friends’ updates. While, WeBuzz.IM shows all pictures by default. In this case, we won’t miss any new avatars. And we like to see those familiar avatars and would enjoy new avatars coming up now and then.

Everyone likes the notification way. Most time, we do not like to be disturbed. While on internet ,we always notify some blinking titles starting with “[”, “<”, “(”, or anything else. Such useless message is not welcome , especially in working time. Don’t be worry. WeBuzz.IM can provide you a “safety situation”—no disturbution.

For bugs, clicking on the scrollbars won’t activated the messenger client, a little confusion. IE 8.0 is not well supported yet. If there more than 2 messengers are open, it seems that no enough space is left for chatting … All these bugs may be fixed or may be improved in the future.

Any others bugs? Which features do you like? What new features do you like to see in the future updates? Please report bugs or make feature requests, or just leave us comments.

Embed WeBuzz.IM in Your Website

Friday, May 1st, 2009

About 6 months ago, we have a post talking about embeding izuz.net web IMs into other websites. At that time, we did not use the name “WeBuzz.IM” and did not make http://webuzz.im/ as the primary service site. And now we would like to update this kind of information for developers:

To embed WeBuzz.IM in your website is very simple, just add a SCRIPT element with src=”http://webuzz.im/im.js” into your HTML pages:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://webuzz.im/im.js"></script>

For example:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<title>We Buzz Together @ WeBuzz.IM</title>
</head>
<body>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://webuzz.im/im.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Someone have reported that “http://webuzz.im/” may not be accessible in some country/network, you may replace http://webuzz.im/im.js with

  • http://izuz.net/im.js
  • http://uziz.net/im.js
  • http://demo.java2script.org/im.js
  • http://java2script.org/im.js

We will synchronize these scripts when we make updates.

We DO NOT recommend you to copy this im.js to your website and load your copy. As you may get out of date and WeBuzz.IM in your website may not be working. But if you do insist doing so, you can follow WeBuzz.IM @ http://twitter.com/webuzzim and subscribe this blog feed for latest updates and synchronize your im.js.

If you embedding WeBuzz.IM under URL with words “gtalk”, “msnlive”, “ymessenger” or “aim”, the specific messenger will be launched automatically when the page is loaded. For example, page http://###.###.com/gtalk.html will launch Google Talk automatically.

And we would like to hear your feedback and feature requests on integrating WeBuzz.IM into your websites. It would be kind for you to send us an email telling us that you are embedding WeBuzz.IM in your websites. We may link to you or notify you for our updates.

Support Password Remembering in WeBuzz.IM

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

We just updated our web Gtalk/MSN/AIM/Y!Messenger webuzz.im, fixing bugs and adding a “remembering password” feature for daily users ( Feature is only enabled for site http://webuzz.im/ ) .

Your password is NOT remembered on our servers. The password is remembered on your browser’s cookie. You can clear cookie or unselect “Remember password” option and login again to clean the remembered password, whenever you think it’s necessary.

You password is encrypted using RSA alogorithm before being remembered in browser’s cookie. And no one could crack your real password out of RSA-encrypted password text. No one could peek your password. In one word, your remembered password is safe.

We are always making our best to make our web IM services secure and convenient.
